Chocolate Chip Cookies1
cookies, desserts, chocolate
2/3 cup soft shortening, part butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup nuts, chopped, optional
6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
Cream shortening, sugar, brown sugar, egg and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients in separate bowl. Add to shortening mixture. Beat well. Add chocolate chips and chopped nuts and stir in gently. Add 1 teaspoon water or more to make soft dough. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees F for 8 to 10 minutes, or until done.
