Applesauce Cake

1 cup applesauce, unsweetened
1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar, light
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup raisins
1/4 teaspoon salt

Mix butter, sugar, salt and spices. Add flour and applesauce in which soda has been dissolved. Add the raisins. Pour into an oblong, well-greased pan and bake at 350-F about 35 minutes. Source: Pennsylvania Dutch Cook Book - Fine Old Recipes, Culinary Arts Press, 1936.
