6 each sweet potato
1 1/2 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cup water, cold
1/4 teaspoon salt
Peel the potatoes and cut in slices 1/2 inch thick. Lay in an iron skillet and add the remaining ingredients. Cover and bake at 350-F for 40 minutes. Uncover and continue baking for 30 minutes. Source: Pennsylvania Dutch Cook Book - Fine Old Recipes, Culinary Arts Press, 1936.
